Wise and Complete

“We are born wise, we are born complete.” This interesting quote on my tea bag today got me thinking about life and society. We often say we wish we could see through a child’s eyes or that we miss our childhood, when we had no responsibilities or stress.

So, what happens in life to “undo” us and lose this feeling of being whole? Life. Life throws us curve balls, tests our strength and breaks our spirit. This is the unavoidable truth. However, what if we could get back to the feeling of completeness? What then would our lives look like? How do we attain this?

If we could get back to this feeling of being complete our lives would be simpler, happier and more joyful, like a child. I’m sure your thinking, that sounds great and all, but there is no way to get back to the mindset of a child. You may be right, but what if you were able to in the slightest way?

Think about children. Why do they become upset? It is generally because of something simple, like falling or not getting what they want. Children feel all their emotions right on their sleeves. They cry and scream and let themselves feel their current emotions, then simply move on. How many times have you seen a child have a total meltdown and then two minutes later take off running, giggling and having a grand ole time? This is being complete, feeling and moving on.

As adults we find ourselves overwhelmed and upset about complicated matters, but if you think about it nothing is really that complex. We spend our adult lives overthinking things, when it all boils down to how certain situations, circumstances and life events make you feel. It is that simple.

To truly see the world through the eyes of a child is to live more simply, regarding your emotions. Process life minute by minute and feel everything, even when tragedy strikes. Then, most importantly, pick yourself up and find happiness again. Don’t dwell on your negative feelings, just acknowledge that they happened and move on. If you can do this, you will be more complete. Your life will be filled with more joy and happiness for that is where you will camp.
