Sticking to your commitments

So I have been writing every day for over 100 days now. I have written in the car, in bed,mirror-note at my computer, on my phone, on my iPad and even while watching TV. I have written when I am happy, sad, drunk, mad and every emotion in between. I am committed to this goal.

This may be the first time I have ever stuck to something and done every single day no matter what. Of course I have accomplished many things and reached other goals, but there are few things in life people can say that they did every single day for a year. While I am nowhere near completing my year of writing, I can honestly say that I will make it to the end.

I love this commitment I have placed upon myself. I love that even when I am exhausted or on vacation I get it done. I love taking a few minutes every day to reflect. It is challenging at times, but the feeling of satisfaction after each writing session is irreplaceable.

Sticking to a commitment doesn’t mean it won’t be hard or without challenges. It simply means you are willing to be a little uncomfortable in order to see it through. It means you care enough about something to set a few minutes aside every day to work on it. While it is unrealistic to live our lives with this unwavering commitment to everything, imagine if you did this with one or two things every day. Imagine how good you would feel to focus on something and stick to something every day?

Think about your goals and think about what you want to accomplish. Then think about what it would take to get there. If it is only a couple minutes per day then do it. It will be uncomfortable at times, but it will be worth it.
