Full of it or on to something?

For those who know me, you know that I am not the most optimistic person. I tend toBe-happy-not-because gravitate toward negative and pessimistic thoughts. So, I can only imagine that those reading my posts are surprised to see me preaching about happiness and leading a more positive and joyful life.

However, my goal in writing about happiness is not to tell people to simply be happy, but to work toward it and on it every day. I saw a quote today the perfectly explained why I am focused on happiness. It says, “be happy… not because everything is good, but because you can see the good in everything.”

To me happiness is a choice and an action rather than an emotion. Happiness is more than feeling joyful. To be happy is to change your way of thinking from negative to positive.

Despite what you see on social media, no one is happy 100% of the time. However, you can be happy most of the time and you can choose when to be happy and when to be unhappy. Any emotion is really a choice in your action.

So, if I seem full of it and not practicing what I preach, it is because I like you am a work in progress. I write about what I feel and want to work on in my life, not what I think people need to hear. I am working to see the good in everything. I am on to something.
