Sometimes all you can do is cry it out. You may not even know why you are crying, but it feels right. The other day I had this moment.
I gave myself permission to let my emotions flow freely and I let myself cry. I simply sat in my bed and felt all my fears and worries wash over me. It had been a while since I had let myself deal with any of my built up emotions and I needed a release.
When you allow yourself to deal with the emotions you have, in a healthy (sober) and controlled way, you will find a greater sense of peace and clarity. I was in a funk for 3 days before I let myself cry and almost immediately after I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
During the process of crying it out you are physically and emotionally cleansing your soul. You are taking time to express yourself while evaluating why you are feeling that way and how to move forward. Letting yourself break down for a period of time is the best way to find clarity and understanding.
You have to deal with your thoughts, emotions and worries to move forward sometimes. It may not solve anything, but it will make you feel as though you are trying to work through your struggles and make progress. So, let yourself feel every once in a while. It is healthy and many times necessary to have a good cry.
