Joy seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life lately. The word continues to pop up around me. Of course, this is not too surprising, since it is the holiday season and the word joy is used more this time of year than any other time. However, this word does have me thinking.
Joy is more than being happy. Joy is more than enjoying something. Joy is a deeper emotion. Joy is an intention and feeling of overwhelming gratitude and thanks.
Think about the last time you were genuinely joyful. How did you feel? Could you feel the happiness and good vibes all the way down in your heart and stomach? Did you even recognize its difference from day to day happiness?
I have felt a lot of joy lately. I have been overwhelmed with feeling and warmth in my heart this holiday season. It has come in waves and certainly has not been constant, but I have made an effort to appreciate it and embrace it when it has presented itself.
Joy is not a light you can simply turn on in your heart, but rather a door to be walked through. So, keep your heart open and positive, allow the doorway to joy to be free of negativity and worry. If you can find the positivity each day, you will be more likely to experience pure joy in the future.
