Happy Valentine’s Day! I realized this morning that I have A LOT of messages of love around my house. I have many things that say live, laugh, love or the word love in the message.
I have never really thought about why I am drawn to this word or even the fact that I am, apparently. I grew up being taught that love conquers all and at the core of everything is love. I have watched my parents and grandparents love each other through the good and the bad. Love has been engrained in me my entire life.
Even when I would mess up as a child or teenager, my parents would tell me how much they loved me in their discipline. I could be screaming and crying, and they would explain that the reason I was being punished was that they loved me so much they wanted me to learn from my mistakes.
Love is not always pretty. Often times it is honest and raw. Love can be tough but also sweet. Love is different for everyone. Knowing how you show love and want to receive love is very important. We all know that the 5 love languages are:
- Words of Affirmation
- Quality Time
- Acts of Service
- Receiving Gifts
- Physical Touch
Not surprisingly, my love language is words of affirmation. As a communicator, actually hearing “I love you” or reading my spouse’s expression of love for me means far more than anything else. I also like to have positive messages around my home, so love being at the core of everything only makes sense. This Valentine’s Day consider love differently. Take this quiz to find your love language and encourage your significant other to do the same. Knowledge is power and the more we can learn about each other the more we can meet their needs. Happy love day, I hope you feel it and share it in every way.
