We all want to be in control all the time right? We want things to go our way or not at all. The reality, however, is that life does not work that way.
Having control is not something we get to choose. You either have it, or you don’t. The good news is that you can adapt based on whether or not you are in control. If you find yourself in a situation where you are not in control, you can use that to adapt and make choices based on your reactions. If you are in control, you can look and see where that control may be causing you more stress than necessary and let go.
Achieving balance with control is like walking a tight rope. You will sway back and forth between being in control and not. You have your big long pole to help keep you balanced, and that pole is your instincts; it is your ability to adjust and recenter yourself before you lose control again.
So, take heart in knowing that life is one giant tight rope. Life will test you and pull you in and out of control. You may even fall, but it is at your lowest is when you find your true strength to get back up. I encourage you to spend less time worrying about being in control and instead focus on your choices. Focus on yourself and your happiness because at the end of the day that is all that matters.
